M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a childās greatest companion and a parentās greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Outās Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.
When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemmaās unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problemsāa decision that will have unimaginable consequences.
Produced by Jason Blum and James Wan, M3GAN is directed by award-winning filmmaker Gerard Johnstone (Housebound), from a screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant, The Nun 2) based on a story by Akela Cooper and James Wan.
The film also stars Ronny Chieng (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Brian Jordan Alvarez (Will & Grace), Jen Van Epps (Cowboy Bebop), Lori Dungey (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, extended edition) and Stephane Garneau-Monten (Straight Forward).

For being a horror film, this actually seems a lot more grounded in terms of danger of AI than most science fiction films. The fictionalized danger of AI being that they turn on humans, and the realistic danger be that they follow our instructions exactly but they use methods we didn't predict and don't want.

What I love about this trailer is that it shows that they knew people werenāt going to take it seriously, so they leaned into its camp qualities.

I was that kid who loved my dolls and Barbies. I also had four furbies, which is what the purrpetual pet was most likely based off of. M3GAN plays off of our favorite childhood toys that were somewhat unsettling to begin with although as kids we didnāt see it as Caty doesnāt see it.
Also loved the references to Terminator and Childās Play.
M3GAN was equal parts beautiful and terrifying.
Iām terrified of her, but who wouldnāt want a beautiful queen bee robot to be your bad ass bodyguard that would drive off in a McLaren with you? I would have adored her as a kid as long as she didnāt go on killing sprees. If the Terminator could become a hero the next model of M3GAN could! Also I think $10,000 would be cheap for a toy like her.

1:36 I am mightily impressed by Amie Donald's physical acting here, she absolutely nails the movements of a robot attempting to emulate human movement. I have not seen the movie yet but I'm rather interested in it if I'm being completely honest.

I just saw this the other day. Itās like a combination of Terminator and Small Soldiers. M3gan is an advanced and adaptable AI like Skynet, and a toy prepared to ship out like the toys in Small Soldiers. They obviously didnāt work out all the bugs yet. This is why AI is so dangerous and why projects should never be rushed.

Just watched the movie... the trailer highlights Megan's amazing talent... but only shout out to the actress playing Katie... she really shined in the emotional aspects... this movie shows that there are still really good child actors in the industry
