In a time where seasons were shorter, and defenders could drill you mercilessly. An incredible career

Jerry Rice is four months older than Michael Jordan. The two athletes share significant similarities. Relentless work ethics, incredible athletic talent and relatively good luck with injuries. Btw, in between Rice and Jordan's birthdays, Bo Jackson was born. These guys are the three greatest athletes of my lifetime.

He's so good that people says he's the goat regardless of position. All time legendary

I met Jerry at an autograph signing convention in Santa Clara. My ticket was for him to just sign my helmet but he chatted me up, mentioned my height, I'm 6'7, shook my hand and took his picture with me after he signed my helmet. Pictures are a separate fee I didn't pay for but he didn't care. Seemed like a great dude.

Younger people don't realize that WRs weren't protected and babied back then like they are today. There was no "Defenseless receiver BS" back then. When they went across the middle, they were fair game for the head hunters. I seen Rice take many shots that would have ended some of todays babies careers. Not only take the shot but bounce right up and run back to the huddle, not limp or wave himself out. He would run back to the huddle and do it again. The man is a LEGEND-by far the GOAT of Wrs

The Goat. I was blessed to see almost every pro game Jerry had played in, what a ride it was.

As someone who grew up watching Jerry Rice play virtually every game it still amazes me to this day that he was always considered slow but I don’t think I ever saw him get caught from behind😂

Number one in every career receiving category, from an era and a team that did not pass the ball nearly as much as the last 20 years of the game. Had better seasons after 40 than most players do after 27

Just ask the DB's that lined up against him. Jerry never got tired. His stamina was amazing.

I played football in high school and by the end of practice each day I could barely stand. The thought of running home 5 miles after that is crazy, if he was doing that every day, he must have been in insane shape compared to the other kids.

Jerry Rice is one of the few Receivers to ever get a share of the MVP award. He is the only 3 Receivers to get Superbowl MVP award, and the only one to post so many dominant seasons. He's the only one to have a 20 year career, and to be effective at the end of that career. He's one of the few players to ever make a pro-bowl at 40 years old. He is the GOAT NFL player, and always will be. Think about this, if any are in doubt: Jerry Put up numbers that would be impressive today, in the 1980's....under old skool NFL defense happy rules. Yeah! That's right! 5-10 yard jamming zones off the line were legal, hard to get separation like that. Defensive holding and pass interference were called far less often. You had to be blatantly holding someone to get called back then, not this ticky tack stuff today. And if you put Today's top guys back in Rice's Heyday, their numbers would go way, way down!

Jerry Rice is the greatest football player to ever play not just the greatest wide receiver. Remember he did it in a league where you could hold grab and Tackle before they throw a flag. He's got the record for the most records.

"Simply the best, better than all the rest" Hard work and sacrifice truly pays off. Jerry Rice dedicated his life to football, to his craft, and mastered it.

It's crazy to think that if he didn't happen to cut school right where the principal saw him running he might have never even played football. Right place right time. That's how almost all people get their big break.

I saw him play a few times. He was just so smooth, he even fell smoothly! He was so smooth it didn't ever look like he could be hurt. He'd slip a vicious tackle when he was already being held up by another defender avoid the hit, or catch the ball and duck or slip to avoid a brutal hit. He was just so fit and strong. Amazing stuff.
