I feel like what made Nemesis so terrifying in the original was that throughout most of his mutations, he maintained his human form. It just made him feel that much more unstoppable (And badass).

In the remake by making nemesis turn feral so fast they forgot that it was his intelligence and lack of humanity in a human form that was what made him so scary to begin with. He was never just a monster and the remake kinda makes him out to be one.

What made the original Nemesis so terrifying was that you literally witnessed him decaying and transmogrifying from some unexplainable humanoid to a bizarre, alien-like, and otherworldly creature totally indistinguishable from the last stage of transformation. What strikes me the most from the remake is that Nemesis became more animal-like overtime, which registered him to look like and behave like any other commonplace enemy in the series. He was more predictable and less menacing, an unfavorable combination that should never happen in any horror game. Especially a game that is supposed to expand on its initial blueprint.

In the PS1 version, Nemesis transformation makes so much more sense. Some people complain about his last transformation in the PS1 version. But what they dont know is that Jill had cut off his arm and head, which explains how his head changes so drastically from the previous stage.
