I think they had a story already in mind for the third installment with the Joker, but had to scrap it because Heath passed. So they had to come up with something in a hurry, and ending up landing on Bane. Which I guess is because they decided a worthy physical adversary for Batman would be the next most interesting thing, and with the the League of Shadows connection from Batman Begins, they could explain that.
Overall, I think they did a good job of wrapping up the story, and I still really enjoy The Dark Knight Rises despite its flaws. It was very emotional, and we see further growth from Bruce as a character, as he finds purpose in life outside of Batman. I can understand why some people don't enjoy it or really care for it, but I think there is some nitpicking from reviewers.

Plane wings absolutely have a wind tolerance limit, and would be especially vulnerable at high speed and with that nose-down bank angle. But, yeah, that scene is ridiculous.
Also, the dangling plane would create so much drag on the bigger plane as to make the latter uncontrollable.
I'll see myself out.

It really was not great. One thing that struck me was when Batman returns to Gotham at the end and has a street fight with Bane, the fact that it is daytime really made it lookâŚsilly and dumb.
I remember thinking the same thing when I was a kid on certain episodes of the animated series. Batman in broad daylight doesnât work. Never will.

As an electrical engineer, I really hate when movies like this act like a nuclear reactor can be made into a nuclear bomb by flicking a switch. Nuclear power plants use 5% enriched uranium, nuclear bombs use 80% enriched uranium, and youâre not just going to get some scientist to magically enrich it for you!
