I practiced guitar for 4 hours a day for 30 days. I thought it would be cool to document the process and share the results from this little challenge I set for myself.

What really allowed me to grow as a guitar player and having a decent amount of time to practice revolved around my life choices. Rather than getting home from work and taking a nap, I shower and play guitar for an hour or two before the gym. Instead of spending money drinking and going out every weekend, I stay home and continue to jam. Granted I live a very simple life and donā€™t need much. Music is what makes me happiest in life.

A tip for beginner for beginners who find it hard to start: Have videos like this playing in the background while learning chords, or chord switching. Keeps you motivated.

I miss the good old days of being able to practice 3-5 hours a day. Now I work a full time job and my old house needs constant reno work on it. Keep up the great guitar playing!

The day that I realized that the major/minor pentatonic scale just repeats throughout the entire fretboard is the day I knew how to play/improvise in any key.

Love how you broke your time wisely like that with learning some theory and practicing with the metronome instead of just practicing just 4 hours straight without having any clear direction or goal. Iā€™ve been wanting to get better at playing myself too but didnā€™t know where to start. Thank you! ā˜ŗļø

The fact that you mentioned youā€™ve touched the guitar before picking up again, and mentioned you knew certain things is a huge help!! This whole video has been super helpful for me.. after 17 years Iā€™ve finally picked it back up and needed a refresh! So glad I ran across your video! Big inspiration! Thanks!

The great guitar gods of youtube are just so far and intimidating with their 20 years of experience, every brand's highest end guitars, big boiii tube amps, and army of pedals. Its so refreshing to see a youtuber with the squire/epiphone combo, generic tone, and not perfect playing that we lower level guitar players can relate too. Definitely inspired to practice and learn more. Good stuff man!

Hey man, thanks for sharing this. I've been playing for 40 years and I've stopped and done stuff like this from time to time. Learned a lot and still know nothing. Takes a ton of self-discipline and you should be proud of yourself.

I just got a Squire Strat today. And you have inspired me to attempt this challenge. BTW, Iā€™m 65 years old and havenā€™t picked up a guitar in 50 years! Maybe Iā€™m just crazy, or maybe this Covid thing has pushed me to do something creative at home???šŸ˜Ž

If you become one with the guitar, then begins the endless pursuit of "the" tone that gives you shivers. YOUR sound, the one that hits you right in the feels. You'll know when you hear it from your own hands. It might only last 30 seconds, but that moment will keep your mind full & your wallet a lot lighter for decades.

This is honestly so inspirational. Iā€™ve had my guitar for four years and havenā€™t used it once and Iā€™ve just started to learn. Itā€™s a little difficult to stay inspired and motivated but this just inspired me to push and continue. Youā€™re doing amazing šŸ’™
