Lupe Fiasco has set the record straight on his “apology” to Kendrick Lamar after downplaying his lyrical abilities years ago.

After J. Cole’s surprise apology to Kendrick Lamar for dissing him on “7 Minute Drill” dominated social media discourse on Monday (April 8), Complex published an article called “A History of Rappers Apologizing to Kendrick Lamar.”

Lupe aint scared of no rapper but it’s not a big deal to have apologized. An apology doesn’t mean you’re scared if you mean it

I’m so glad to see so many people respecting Lupe in the comments. Not many people talk about the guy nowadays, but i’m happy that some haven’t forgot about how good he is.

Hip hop media better leave Lupe Fiasco alone. Lupe Fiasco can go bar to bar with the best of them. Don’t drag him into this.

This dude is literally a professor of rap. Like literally teaching at MIT. Leave that man alone, Complex twisted his words to create content. While Lupe would be the person to get a good 2 cents on with whats happening, I agree that hip hop culture lacks balance as to where emphasis and attentions lie. Lupe is a legend.

Lupe doesn’t strike me as scared of any rapper and he’s a top tier lyricist in his own right.

Nah. This was whack.. saying people care too much about soon to be historic rap beef sounds like Lupe is in feelings about something. Of course we care about it, it's a part of HipHop culture. Just like his comment on Kendricks control verse. Every rapper that had something negative to say about it wasn't included in the first place.

Lupe is very smart and damn well he wasn’t apologising to Dot. He just mad at himself for even entertaining that topic in the first place.

Lupe brought Kendrick out in Chicago back in the day. He had no issue with Kendrick like that but it's rap. I will take Lupe over anyone, period. Some ppl just don't know the history or forgot.

He technically didn't apologize to "K Dot". He apologized for even typing about it in the first place because it was a waste of his time. He wasn't getting called out specifically but was getting called out to rap, generally speaking by "K Dot". Lupe Fiasco technically wasn't incorrect in his evaluation of "K. Dot'" lack of complexity.😎

See I like Cole, lupe, Kendrick all for very different reasons in they styles. Some people just fan to hard for certain individuals and fail to see the differences that make them very unique

Lupe is top 5 lyricists of all time. But I remember when he critiqued Kendrick repeatedly…then dropped that "response" to the Control verse and HIS verse was pure dookie. I aint forget. So clearly great lyricists snd MCs put out work that dont always hit.
