Ride and this are twin sisters of missing summertime, nostalgia, seeking freedom and fruition in your life.

LYRICS [Verse 1] I miss Long Beach and I miss you, babe I miss dancing with you the most of all I miss the bar where the Beach Boys would go Dennis's last stop before Kokomo [Pre-Chorus] Those nights were on fire We couldn't get higher We didn't know that we had it all But nobody warns you before the fall [Chorus] And I'm wasted Don't leave‚ I just need a wake-up call I'm facing the greatest The greatest loss of them all The culture is lit and I had a ball I guess I'm signing off after all [Guitar Solo] [Verse 2] I miss New York and I miss the music Me and my friends‚ we miss rock 'n' roll I want shit to feel just like it used to And‚ baby, I was doing nothin' the most of all [Pre-Chorus] The culture is lit, and if this is it‚ I had a ball I guess that I'm burned out after all [Chorus] I'm wasted Don't leave, I just need a wake-up call I'm facing the greatest The greatest loss of them all The culture is lit and I had a ball I guess that I'm burned out after all [Outro] If this is it, I'm signing off Miss doing nothin' the most of all Hawaii just missed that fireball L.A. is in flames‚ it's getting hot Kanye West is blond and gone "Life on Mars" ain't just a song I hope the live stream's almost on

"The Greatest" is a kaleidoscope of classic-rock radio transmitted through Lana's hushed, psychedelic lens. The drums roll in slow motion, the guitar solos are fuzzy, the piano is recorded so that you can feel the shag carpet beneath it. Instead of luxuriating in vintage textures, Lana is restless, eulogizing her listless youth while repeatedly incorporating the words "the culture is lit," as if attempting to dance through the tears. It's a playful, graceful way to voice a common feeling of helplessness and overstimulation. And if she sounds more at peace than the rest of us, it's because she's been here a while, waiting for us to catch up before it's too late.

This song makes me happy for the life I have lived, the ups and downs, and that I didn't sell out or follow the path set out for me....I think that's my favourite thing about Lana's music, that it reminds me of how I really feel.

Lana is easily the best song writer in our age. She also cares for her fans. There are never any fillers on the album. All works of Art (Deco). Unbelievable consistency of quality.
