So if i understood video properly, things between higher-ups and devs went like this:
Don't give team resources -> Devs miss deadlines -> Take away people from the team for missing deadlines and not lower expectations -> People quit and more deadlines are missed -> Cancel entire project for missing deadlines
As disappointed as i am by this news, I'm not surprised that it was the cause

Ambitious projects have been failing to reach their end goals, itâs now going to be more difficult to sell an amazing idea to a team if none of them believe it will see the light of day leading to playing it safe for monetary gain rather then putting out a passionate work of art

I still hope and pray that Raven Software will be freed from the CoD mines by Microsoft so that we can get a return to form similar to Id Software

You got pretty much everything right besides one thing, Overwatch PvP is not getting more content then ever. What they actually did was by cutting the PvE content they are restoring the PvP content release schedule to what OW1 had before being put on the back burner. 3 heroes a year was the standard before they switched development to OW2, and 3 heroes a year is what we will be getting from now on.

So instead of cutting back and maybe not having 50 abilities *per character*, they just scrapped the entire thing? I think the community would have been happy with like, 2-3 variations of each existing ability and maybe a few passive effects.
The main draw was really the story building and fleshing out the world and lore.

I would be more enthused if this has been a recent decision, but it was made 1.5 years ago. What we are seeing now in the PVP side IS them focusing on it - lifeweaver, starwatch, this is the result of them being fully dedicated for over a year to the PVP
At the end of the day, they are going to strip Overwatch down to 25% of what was promised, and then STILL underdeliver
but like sirswag, I'm a filthy OW stan so I will probably still be here
