The Mordekaiser died @ 15:00 because he (possibly by mistake) tried to heal using his shield but there is a very brief delay between when the shield disappears and when the heal applies. The turret basically hit for damage during that brief delay, so the actual heal never went through.

I saw that if you activate Q first then E during the charge the Q timer doesn't decay, so I think the engage combo should involve setting up Q first so you don't self stun yourself to pick up the rock and waste the stun of the enemy in the wall.
You could also use this set up while already having Q active and E slamming someone into the wall then Instant Ulting to auto proc the Q rock slam and guaranty the Ult landing.

Sooo he has a scaling % max hp damage on passive through level and scaling % max hp ad based damage on q3. So you can just build any bruiser ad item like Sundered/Titanic combo or Sundered+Eclipse maybe for more shielding and get big damage while still being bulky and then go full tank after first 2 ad items and shred people while being ridiculously tanky with a high amount of cc. Looks hecking fun.

Some thoughts.
The W aoe seems a bit small. I think Jarvan's is bigger. Having no way to get movespeed other than E seems like it hurts a lot which means Deadman's is almost mandatory. Maybe if they added movespeed to Q and a couple seconds after as well as making Q last longer would feel any better. Though that would be kind of funny that holding a giant rock would make something faster.
Throwing or hitting with the Q rock seems lackluster. Maybe a mini-stun would make it feel better like 0.1 seconds or something. Don't know how the final scaling will be but it would be nice if it does have good scaling.
It's kind of sad about losing all cooldown reduction for hitting stuff. Not like other champions don't have it like Yi, Shyvanna and Wukong but Skarner used to have CD on-hit for all his non-ultimate abilities till the mini-rework then it was only on his Q. Now it's on nothing. Though at least at max rank it's only like 3 second cooldown.
Just from watching this it seems like either R needs to give unstoppable all throughout or at least during cast and perhaps tenacity during it. Does the R apply his passive? If it doesn't perhaps it should.
For the passive, it would be better if it was more like a stacking passive where hitting something once is 1/3 as effective stacking up to three times. The all or nothing doesn't look good.
