When I first listened to this song 4 years ago I was 22 years old and studying abroad on the other side of the globe, fell in love with a guy there who had a girlfriend (if I knew he had one I wouldn't have let myself fall so deeply in love) but when I heard about her it was too late. That was the first and only time I ever fell in love and I didn't know how painful it could be when your love is unrequited.
Now when I think of him I get nostalgic and even a bit sad, but I wish him all the best, because he was always so charming and witty and his girlfriend was cute and kind and I just saw how much of a good match they were, they were literally made for each other.
It was really hard at that time to bury these feelings inside my heart, but it is okay. I got to experience what being in love was. I hope if it ever happens to me again, that it won't be unrequited.
