The perpetuals are probably the worst part about the siege of Terra. But they aren't in it for long, the latest siege of Terra book slaps hard

The part where the dreadnought sacrifices itself to provide the Deathgaurd Marines cover and concealment from the multi barrel lascannon in a tight hallway brought a tear to my eye.
The following part where the leading deathgaurd marine behind the Dreadnought says "Thank you brother. This one is for you" before he launches himself over the dreadnought and pops the guys manning the lascannons.

David is good at writing the Horror elements but not as much at writing Primarch's and Astartes so this book was decent but not great.

For a recommendation: How about the Roboutian Heresy Legion Indexes? And maybe also the Angel War? I think those would be pretty neat for you to cover.

Pay attention to rogal dorn and the formatting of it. Then go back and examine the formatting of each primarch novel. They actually kind of match the character of each primarch. I didn’t notice it until Dorn’s. 😉

The Nurgle-esque behaviors of this, like making the oppressed civilian populace count the dead, were just uncalled for. But at the same time, I do not blame Mortarion, AT ALL, for refusing the surrender of the ruling class and wiping them all out.

Eh, this one was hit and miss for me. Liked some of it. Other parts were VERY on the nose. Like ordering the people to start counting? And they do, tallying the dead, endlessly droning on and on about their count while their bodies slow rot away from infection and radiation poisoning. Oh, exactly like a plaguebearer? Gee, I wonder where the original plaguebearers for the Death Guard come from. Could it be the civilians Mortarion took with him as examples of how to properly count dead bodies to prove his way is best? It's like finding out the World Eaters already shouted "Skulls for the skull throne!" but they simply meant the Golden Throne instead. There's foreshadowing, and then there is just second verse same as the first. I think that in part was the unspoken censure the Emps gave Morty. Like dude, you accidently copied and pasted daemons into existence and think you did well. Imagine if Fulgrim has gone to the Emps after that concert/orgy thing he held and was all "Pops, I made this girl sing so hard she exploded into a crab succubus! Cool right?!" The actual battles I enjoyed, even if the big final boss was just getting Garro to dig a whole in the ground and shoot a few old ladies.
