The best köttbullar i ate was on a road restaurant in a gas station on the highway from VÀsterÄs to Stockholm. Very homemade style.

My mother was Swedish and made the âSwedish dinnerâ for Christmas Eve. We teased her because some of the food seemed weird, but it was really fun! Iâll learn the Swedish words for the dishes, but they included cold jellied veal, pickled herring, rutabaga/potato mash, lingon and of course meatballs!

Couldn't get enough, also köttbullar is the best dish! I'm not really surprised by lingonberries as we often use cranberries. Lingon is not really popular in my region of Poland, I think Ikea introduced it to us here, but cranberries are also quite sour đ

I am pretty sure "Swedish meatballs" were a stereotypical Swedish food before IKEA was widespread in the United States. I always assumed that was a big part of why IKEA sold them.

As the daughter of a turkish Father I Can tell you that most of the turkish meatball recipes actually exclute flÀskkött.

That picture is of the restaurant Pelikan in Södermalm! Locals took us there last fall when I was in Sweden. Jag hade en pytt i panna till dagens lunch, den bÀsta husmanskost jag haft i Sverige!
