This is definitely the best depiction of a sacking ever brought to cinema. Absolutely horrifying.

That scene was very well made. A massacre, people running, all kinds of atrocities. This alone deserves an Oscar

5:40 I feel so bad for Priam seeing his kingdom fall in front of his eyes because of his jackass son Paris.

This is the best massacre scene ever depicted in a movie. It is horrifying, but the actors deserve all the respect.

Achilles, the man who was born to end lives, is the only Greek who is not indiscriminately killing Trojans. He lets some of them live and tells them to bag ass out of Troy

I just love the reference to Rome. Aeneias, the young man who is given the sword of Troy here is, according to Roman legend the ancestor of Romulus and Remus. He would lead the remaining Trojans to Italy, and his son would found the settlement of Alba Longa. Eventually two brothers of Aeneiases bloodline named Romulus and Remus would go on to found the city of Rome and you know the rest. It's comforting to think that the Trojans would in a way get their revenge on the Greeks when Romans would conquer them and rule them for over a thousand years. All of this is pure myth of course, but cool nonetheless.

My favorite part about this scene is how the soldiers coming out of their barracks unprepared but still attempting defend their city. Same with the make citizens of Troy, non combatants were giving their life up to repeal the enemy attackers

Imagine just sleeping peacefully in the middle of the night just to be awoken by screaming and come to find that your city has been invaded by hundreds of thousands of enemy soldiers going around killing everything in sight

Peter O'Toole did an amazing job as Priam. His expression when he watches his city burn is soul-shattering.

One of the reason I love the story of Troy. They didn't win by brute force, but with deception.

The tragedy in this movie is that not only did Troy get destroyed but also that Paris and Helen lived...incredible

The powerless anguish and terror in Priam's eyes, the look of a wise and noble king's city and people going up in flames, heartbreaking. War is brutal.

I remember this scene when it came out. Looking back at it again, I didn't realize all the rape and babies being tossed around. Makes my stomach turn at the absolute brutality of the ancient world.

The sad part is that this did happen in ancient wars. Women raped, babies chucked like footballs. There was absolutely no mercy.

I didn't remember this scene to be so cruel.... Somewhere in this universe must be the Minotaur.
