I remember seeing Imagine Dragons for their Smoke and Mirrors tour back in 2015, 7 years ago. Strange to think I was so young then (Age 11). It was my first concert and I still remember the lightshow that accompanied "I bet my life". Absolutely glorious work from the light show crew.
Fast forward 3 years in 2018 and I'm there at the London O2 to see them again for their Evolve tour. I could feel their sound shifting away from the instruments a little but I still loved it to death.
Fast forward to 2022. I moved out of my parents place, I work part time, and I'm studying music professionally at University in a city a decent bit far from my home town.
Imagine Dragons' sound has shifted quite drastically from what I grew up with. I'm not gonna say they were better back then, as that's elitist thinking. After all, you can only climb higher and higher in their case. And I'm glad I can say I've grown up with them being such a large part of my life for my formative years.
Their style has shifted from what I enjoy. I love Rock music, and in my opinion their latest albums haven't made the splash in my musical palette that I would have loved. I still check in with their latest releases to see how they're doing. They're doing great and I'm happy for the heights that they are soaring above.
There's no real point or meaning to this comment. I still cherish the memories I have of this band. They still rock live. no doubt of it. but as a working musician that's working part time. It would be a real challenge to even acquire a ticket to see them live one more time. given how big they are now...
Maybe one day...
For now. IF any of you reading this comment that is going to see them live soon. HAVE FUN. Imagine Dragon's concerts are always infused with lightning. the energy is infectious. and Enjoy yourselves!
