The plot involved a producer and performer (Ronny Graham) in financial trouble and is trying to stave off an angry creditor long enough to open his show. A wealthy Texan offers to help out, on the condition that his daughter be in the show. New Faces was a musical revue with songs and comedy skits tied together by a quirky plot. It ran on Broadway for nearly a year in 1952 and was then made into a motion picture in 1954. It helped jump start the careers of several young performers including Paul Lynde, Alice Ghostley, Eartha Kitt, Carol Lawrence, performer/writer Mel Brooks (as Melvin Brooks), and lyricist Sheldon Harnick.

Directors: Harry Horner, John Beal
Writers: Ronny Graham, Mel Brooks

Leonard Stillman held New Faces revues in New York over a number of years. His last, New Faces of 1968, introduced Madeline Kahn and Robert Klein.

How great to see Robert Clary sing and dance, well before his tv sitcom days.

It's criminal how brilliant and underused Eartha Kitt was. The piffle surrounding her in this dreadful flick is insulting.

Saw this when it came out, grew up with the soundtrack. Alice Ghostley was funny in Car 54, Where Are You? years later.

At the time, I was eight when I saw this in 1954. One gaze of Eartha Kitt and instantly I was struck with the deepest meaning of a word spoken only by adults, : sexy.

So many stars came out of the New Faces revues. They were big hits on Broadway with full cast recordings, but I'd no idea any had been filmed! This one has Alice Ghostley, Robert Clary, Eartha Kitt, Paul Lynde... all of whom became stars and were introduced to Broadway by the stage version of this in 1952 (this was filmed in 1954 and except for the tiny little storyline it's exactly as it was). It's so obvious why Kitt became such a headliner at clubs all over the world, and why she never broke into movies or TV. Clary is the revelation here, at least to me. His singing is charming but his acting is terrific.

It said I'd never seen Robert Clary or Earthy Kitt before. Used to watch Robert Clary on "Hogan's Heroes" and Earthy Kitt on "Batman" and "Eric the Viking." I vaguely remember Alice Ghostley from "Bewitched." Mel Brooks fans know Ronny Graham as the priest from "Spaceballs." He also appeared in Brooks' other films "Robin Hood: Men In Tights," "Life Stinks," "To Be Or Not To Be," and "History Of The World: Part I." Robert Clary is the last surviving original castmember from "Hogan's Heroes" (95 years old as of this posting: Dec 18, 2021)

That was wonderful to watch, I like the Eartha Kitt Santa Baby rendition and the monologues and dance numbers. French and English songs and just rapid fire numbers and set changes. Some good acting back then :)
