The only car purchasing advice I mention to people around me is to buy a vehicle that is worth a very small fraction of their overall net worth. Like less than 5% is a good amount and always pay in full/cash. People will not advance financially if they have "forever" car payments. No mental gymnastics involved and depreciation will not be an issue because it won't be felt.
I know it sounds crazy but only very few people will understand this concept. At the end of the day, 99.9% of people do not care what car you drive.

Yesterday, I just finalized my purchase of a 2024 Tucson Hybrid Ultimate ... excellent vehicle. The dealer also tried to sell me the wheel locks (oh, they are already installed); I told them to remove the wheel locks. They also did a pitch on the rust protection (the oil protection requires drilling and will affect the warranty coverage); I told the Manager "no thanks." And, of course, the extended warranty; again, I'm OK with the manufacturer's warranty. Expect all of this crap and more when negotiating a price.
As for EVs, I've owned a 2020 Kona EV, a 2022 Ioniq 5 Ultimate and can literally say, the great charging speed of the Ioniq 5 doesn't matter if there aren't any 800V chargers along your route or they are down and out of service. Happened yesterday when I wanted to charge but the 800V (350 KW) chargers were out of service or the cable couldn't reach. Wait at least 5 years unless you want to be treated like a 2nd class citizen at a charging station (no weather protection, no windshield cleaners, no garbage cans, no washroom close nu and no convenience stores close. Why sacrifice because you own an EV? Hybrids are far better choices .... if you can get one.

Excellent advice. On your leasing vs purchase with a loan, l simply tell customers that leasing is uniquely special for business write-offs, or if you're looking at a vehicle that has questionable reliability, or notorious for pricey repairs like: Audi, BMW, Land Rover, M-B, Jaguar, anything Italian, or Stellantis, Volvo...
You've done eally good work here and this is an excellent service to your followers.đ

Your videos are so valuable! I always learn something new and appreciate how knowledgeable you are. I do have a question: having driven as many cars as you have, could you break down in size or price categories your take on the best lane-centering, the best adaptive cruise control, and the best stop and go control? (And any other similar systems) Thank you!

You may have answered this in a previous video so feel free to just post the link. What auto SUV manufacturers would you say are reliable in the 5-7 year range? Almost all manufacturers can get their vehicles to 3 years but then on some of them, major trouble pops later. We currently have a 2011 Toyota Venza AWD V6 that we will trade. We do like CPO vehicles.
Great content by the way. I appreciate your sane analysis without the sensational clickbait.

Hi Shari!!! Great video â¤
I agree wholeheartedly with everything you had said especially the rustproofing optionsâŚKrown is the best or any other oil based options, definitely not the dealership corruption option.
One thing that I am having difficulty agreeing is when you had mentioned about rebuilding used battery packs for Hybrids. I donât agree with this option unless you are selling the vehicle but if you are planning to keep the vehicles replace the entire battery not just the dead cells. At times, the cells may work fine but then after few weeks/months they may die anyway just like the ones that was replaced previously.

Just a little help on wheel and tire coverage. I do not buy extended warranties but I did buy the Honda wheel and tire coverage for my 21 accord sport se. Only because of the 19â wheels ( which I will never buy again !!!). It was 1000 bucks for 5 years. It covers everything. My wife has hit all 4 wheelsâŚtwo times at 250 a wheelâŚ.do the math. I must say this was a wise investment. Without the low profile 19â I would not buy the warranty. Honda wheel and tire protection for 19â is a must! But once againâŚ..skip the 19â on the accord. Horrible, horrible ride quality !!

During the winter storms the people in the Midwest and North east realized Electric vehicles aren't worth it as the charging stations were busy or out of order. just saying.
