lots to catch up on
i wanted to share the first song from “storm before the calm”, my new meditation record entitled “safety: empath in paradise.”
during the the last while within the pandemic i felt very inspired to
write and remain connected (didn’t always work. and when it didn’t, it felt like a unique torture).
all i knew was that i wanted to write a record that would offer something. and throughout the process of creating it with dave harrington, —beautifully and mercifully—it became its own multi-layered life raft during a time where i felt like i might disappear and float away.
this album is filled with what i hope might be a safe invitation to and compatriot in your/our dropping in ….
i offer this first song and the entire record to match and be available for any junctures on your personal journey ❤️
whether it be relaxation or resting or releasing or emboldening or sweaty wildness or embodying or empowering or clarifying. may it serve as a catalyst, a soothing, a glimpse of awakening. an honoring. an objectivity. a wordless partner in healing. a place to land. inquire. breathe. notice. one in which you are held. in your lying down and jumping up.
your movement, your numbness or your feelings… any of them… anger or clearing… sadness, grief, joy … fear, all. are. welcome.

Alanis, you are something else.
My mom and I used to listen to Jagged Little Pill on REPEAT when I was growing up- some of my happiest memories. She passed away on 6/16 and obviously it has been a tough time, as she was my best friend. Of course, you were playing on the speaker as she passed peacefully. I decided to look you up again today, as I regularly do, and saw that you had the new album that released the day after she passed. As soon as I started the album it brought tears to my eyes. You have given me what I did not know I needed.
I'm sure so many others have received what you released as it was meant to be received, as a gift. Thank you Alanis for this gift, and all your others you have given to us throughout the years, from the bottom of my heart. I hope to one day meet you!

I grew up with your music . I already loved everything about you back then in all your to youngness and rawness. Interesting, Such Pretty Forks did exactly that for me, it was my best "friend" through the pandemics and I keep listening to it again and again. I did not really know music could be healing, but Such Pretty Forks is. I just can't describe how much. Thanks for that 💜🦋
