To me, it’s country because it talks about life. It’s country because it speaks to me. Pure pop music just can’t have that effect on me. If it can make me see and feel the simple things in life like love and heartbreak, it’s country. Country music can have pop, it can have rock, it can have bluegrass, but it’s the emotion put into it that makes it recognizable.
And because Stapleton had a voice in making this song, and it’s sung by Thomas Rhett- two country singers who can really write good songs about love, loss, and faith- it only cements that fact.

I don't see why a lot of people are freaking out about it not being "country".. I'm sure there is a fair amount of people who love country but also like a few other genres too. I know I do. So there are a few influences in this song.. It shows just how well rounded this guy is musically. He is a country artist but has a few other interests and he likes to incorporate that in his music. If you don't like it then fine move on past the song and go listen to some George strait or Alan Jackson and call it a day. There is no need to bash a human being for their musical interests and incorporations on THEIR album.

Honestly, I really enjoy this song. That being said, it has nothing to do with country. None of the instrumentals, aside from the steel guitar that plays a single note every few beats at 1:11, are "country" influenced. The beat is more along the lines of alternative or something.

I love the new country sounds it's different from the old stuff but it's still awesome, I love both old and new, for gods sake of you don't like the music why would you listen to it and post crappy comments get a life move on find something you do like and let us that enjoy the music and listen in peace. Old country verses new country both are great just different as are the generations of people listening. Keep singing Thomas rhett love your voice x

I'll take this song any day over "bro country" and the continuous need to prove a singer is "country" by singing about the same things over and over. I'm sorry but you can only sing about lifted trucks, backroads, beer, fireball, and Marshall Tucker Band so many times before it gets old.
This song is different. Sure, it's missing a lot of traditional country elements but the lyrics are totally relatable - something country music has always been known for. Either you love it or you hate it, who cares either way.

I love this song. I mean, country or not, this is original and unique! Unlike most country music, they don't talk about girls, s**, twerking, guns, trucks, etc. This song to me means just because you broke up with someone, don't feel guilty about it. Just move on, live your life, and have fun with people who you love.

My grandma LOVES this song. She can't really move a lot due to breathing problems but when I play this she'll dance in her bed like crazy. It's the best thing ever! 💜💜
