I'm sure the boombox idea would have worked but I think those who are 'graphically challenged' may have difficulty in visioning how it would work.
I remember thinking at the time that you're very creative and as plenty of creative people discover, getting those who are less so to vision how an idea would work is not always easy.

I can take or leave the boombox. Marlee should have won because of Geoffrey Holder. Truly the voice of 7-up in the 70's. He alone made it a better representation of Marlee's decade.

I love you, Meatloaf, but you are full of s*hit. Marlee's commercial better than John's? Seriously? Have you read the blogs, message boards, etc? No matter who people hoped would win, the UNANIMOUS opinion is that John's was superior. Marlee's had a very loose, vague narrative. And to say that you guys lost based solely on the boombox idea is ludicrous. Boomboxes weren't even in vogue until the early '80's.
Even YOU didn't vote for Marlee when Trump asked for an opinion. Yeesh.

I totally agree...the boombox idea was AWESOME!!!!! But once Meat left, I don't think what he had visioned was being executed properly by the rest of the team. When he first said boombox, I thought that it would actually look like a real boombox with maybe stickers all over it which would be the 7-UP logos and so on.
