United Astrology Conference 1986 Documentary

A documentary about the 1986 United Astrology Conference, which was the first time UAC was hosted by AFAN, ISAR, and the NCGR.

This was the very first time that three of the main astrological organizations in the United States pooled their resources to host one big mega conference, and the documentary features many prominent astrologers from the 1980s.

Some of the astrologers featured in the documentary include Rob Hand, Joan McEvers, Marion March, Jim Lewis, Michel Gauquelin, Leyla Raël Rudhyar, Alan Oken, Michael Lutin, Erin Sullivan, Jeff Jawer, Ray Merriman, Philip Sedgewick, Edith Hathaway, Jeffrey Wolf Green, Noel Tyl, and many others.

The three organizations that hosted the conference were the Association for Astrological Networking (AFAN), the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR), and the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR).

The documentary was shot and edited John Steinberg and Rachelle Young Steinberg, and John originally posted it on Vimeo on May 30, 2014, but he recently gave me permission to re-release it on my YouTube channel and podcast so that it can reach a wider audience.

I wrote a blog post about the documentary back in 2014 when it first came out, talking about some of the things I found notable or interesting about it:

horoscopicastrologyblog.com/2014/06/06/united-astr…

I'm planning on recording a livestream commentary about it on YouTube on Sunday, October 8, starting at 3:30 PM Mountain Time, which you can watch live here:

I'm hoping a lot of people can join us in the live chat to help me identify astrologers I don't recognize in the video, and provide additional context and commentary. First though I want to release the documentary on its own.

Interesting how much they wanted to talk about Uranus and their Uranus placements. Uranus was clearly flavour of the month. Nowadays Pluto has taken that crown in modern Astro circles- It’s the latest obsession. I wonder what it will shift to in the future?

What an amazing surprise! It's like meeting some of the authors of the astrology books on my bookshelf or articles in magazines or early internet. I recognize Marion March, Angel Thomson ( I think), Jeff Jawer, Michael Lutin, Robert Hand, and of course you have a very special clip of Michel Gauquelin.

Thankyou Chris, such a heartfelt prophetic video....some of the highlights for me were Jeffrey Wolf Green and the astrologers who referred to the galactic centre.....however, it was the overall feel of the energy of the conference that touched me! Thank you 💯❤

Thank you for this. I studied with Marion March and also Stephanie Erickson who became one of my closest friends until her passing. Was lucky enough to inherit her extensive astrological book collection.

I found it interesting that most of the speakers were men and it looks like 75% attendance were women. This was fun to watch - thank you Chris! I was actually living about 6 blocks away from the Bahia in Pacific Beach during this conference. Good memories!

Wow! That was terrific! A lot of great gems in that documentary. My friend Mercury brought me here to receive this gift and the many messages and insights. Thank you! 🐬🙏🏻☀ I love how they recited their signs and aspects in some cases,it is so relatable.. In honor of a spiritual participation with them, I have sun in Aquarius ,with a total of 4 planets in Aquarius, Pisces rising ,moon in Aries in the first house, with a quite notable t-square with a Uranus/Pluto conjunction opposing Saturn/Chiron conjunction with Jupiter at the apex all angular. I believe,Joan McEvers just told me that I am an astrologer based on her analysis. Add my mars in Aquarius in the 12th house at 27 degrees and I think she would agree.I also, like the idea of applied mysticism and metaphysician astrologic. Jeffrey Wolf is quite intelligent and well spoken and I feel that everyone featured is very articulate. The gentleman who was not only a judge and scientist ,but ,also an astrologer is very interesting. I would like to see if I can find his birth chart on astrodienst or online. I had never seen Michel Gauquelin interviewed , he is ,also, very interesting. The film is very well done . Thank you for posting! 😊

Wow! Keep the Gold coming Chris Brennan! I much admire your astrological contributions! Looking forward to checking out the blog you did in 2014. Thanks for sharing. IMO the sound quality of this video is top notch compared to much of you tube today 😂 Felt represented with all those suns and moons of Scorpio’s and Aquarius’s 😊

I've never been to a conference, I wonder what they're like now. I wonder if different conferences in different areas of the country are vastly different... if it's like a soup of humans showcasing a modern America or if the demographic of people at conferences for astrology is like 1986... It would be cool to hear a "then & now" from some of those 1986 attendees.

Inspiring ! A most brilliant subculture of souls are the true astrologers who have walked this earth throughout time. They laid the groundwork for the acceptance of astrology that we experience today. It's such an honor to speak this sacred language..
