Growing up is realizing 2 important things.
1. This movie is still a masterpiece
And 2. The freezer was actually left open by accident due to that earlier scene of Ellie and Hammond eating ice cream while the power was out.
The same scene where she grills him for obsessing over control over the park instead of his grandkids' safety.
When he left the freezer open and Ellie got power restored, the wet floor iced up and caused the raptor to slide past Tim, and give Lex enough time to lock it in the freezer.
John Hammond saved his grandkids by complete accident.
THAT'S Chaos Theory.
