To me, it would be WAY funnier if Robert was aware of the change. Imagine his annoyance and frustration at the fact that now HE is the one stranded in a world he doesn't understand or like, at least initially. All the fairytale naiveté concentrated in Giselle now surrounding him, and his arc could mirror Giselle's in the first movie, learning to find happiness in an alien environment. This and, of course, the manny comic situations I can think of.

imo the whole "wicked stepmother" plot falls apart when in the original movie, Giselle already told Morgan that not all stepmothers were evil and that she knew plenty in Andalasia who were kind and loving just like biological mothers when Morgan was worried about Nancy becoming her stepmother, throughout the whole movie I kept thinking about that plot hole

I would've loved it if the conflict between Giselle and Morgan was about Giselle being obsessed with fitting in in the real world and Morgan being obsessed with living the fairy tale life her mother always talked about. that way, if Morgan made the wish, that would make her the main character. I would've also liked it if they made Robert evil along with Giselle.

For me, this movie felt like it had no awareness of the first movie, almost like it didn't watch the first movie. It shows itself in little ways. Like why wouldn't giselle, who owned a dress shop in NYC just make morgan new clothes, make her a dress for the ball instead of shopping one. You could still have her destroy it, but it would mean more because giselle made it for her.
Why would Robert want to be a dragon slayer, even under the curse. He was kidnapped by a dragon in the first film, I would think he would be terrified of them.
My hottest take is I think the "villain" should have been Morgan's birth mother. Maybe she tries to come back into the picture, it would make more sense for giselle to feel self conscious as a "step mother" and they could have shown that your mother figure or family isn't blood.

One thing I would say as a fashion stylist is that the costuming in both films have been fairly constant in terms of showing the personality and evolution of the characters. Though I do agree that it was weird that Giselle didn’t just make an outfit for Morgan seeing as how she could make an outfit out of curtains

Here’s one part of the story I would have done:
- made Sophia born as soon as reasonably possible after the first movie
- introduce some conflict between Morgan and Sophia
- make Sophia make the wish after Giselle tells her a story of Andalasia
- Giselle becomes a wicked stepmom
- Morgan and Sophia actually maintain their personalities and autonomy
- Robert still becomes a sort of bumbling hero though not an exact copy of Edward
- Giselle tries to kill Robert because the dad always dies after the stepmom comes in
- and the sisters have to solve the problem together. Save their dad. Morgan still has to make the saving wish. Good message about stepsiblings
Keeps it to the core cast and gets to a new message that still reflects the message of the first movie

it doesn’t make sense to me that Giselle starts to “assimilate” to reality towards the end of the first movie, but 10 years later shes still “andalasian”… if that makes sense lol
I think if disenchanted focused more on giselle losing her spirit and becoming “newyorky” would have been interesting

I don’t understand, Giselle appear to understand the real world better at the end of the original than 10 years later
