Hi guys, this episode was supposed to come out in the last week of 2022, but I have had some personal issues at home which I have been dealing with and it's made working on these a bit difficult. Still, we have some cracking stuff coming up over the next few weeks and there will be another new episode this weekend. Happy belated New Year to you all!

It also bears noting that suicides often spike around the holidays, usually among lonely and isolated persons. Not saying that is what happened in any of these cases, but it's a thing that also deserves our awareness and compassion. Visiting someone at the holidays who is otherwise pretty detached or alone can literally save a life.

If you look at the list of those who died in the Calumet Massacre, most of their ages are in single digits. It breaks your soul. I'm convinced the doors were held shut, if you look at pictures of the place before they tore it down, those doors swung open. There's a great documentary called "1913 massacre" that talks about it and the famous Woody Guthrie song with the same name. Highly recommend if you want to learn more. As a Michigander, I was horrified to only learn of this important moment in labor history in my twenties, should be taught in every class in Michigan. If they can teach us about the Triangle Waist Factory fire, they can teach us about this.

Corporate executives using extreme violence to subdue their unified employees during the latter half of the 19th century and into the early 20th century was all too common practice, so I have no doubts that this was the situation pertaining to the first story which had included the holiday massacre. Also got to say that there is no doubt that dangerous criminals are horrific as it is, however, dangerous criminals disguised as "law enforcement" are much worse.

Christmas and New Year is a terrible time for me, my daughter passed at age 10, December 28th 2012 and since then it brings up horrible memories.

Does anybody remember that copper craze of like 2007/2008? And people were doing dangerous and sometimes fatal things trying to get copper. Like this person in my home town to try to get copper out of high tension power lines. And they found him glowing on the side of the road.

Used to love this time of year. But I’ve lost too many friends and family during the stretch from Halloween to Valentines Day.

There was an newspaper article about that place that the police were the problem and there an investigation about them an AP journalist exposed them this was on a news feed I had a few years ago. But it was an arrest of a police officer, but it didn't make the national headlines as usual. This was in Nome Alaska.

This reminds me of an incident that took place in the year 1902 in the city of Birmingham, Alabama. Booker T Washington was about to give a speech at the Shiloh Baptist Church. When a cry of fire rang out and there was a panic and in a stampede it resulted in the death of over 100 people. And was there a fire, nope. Two people got into a fight outside of the church and in all the commotion somebody thought they heard the word fire. A perfect example as to why you're not allowed to yell fire in a crowded place.

Regarding the heartbreaking story of the Finnish girl Ellie, I believe that the other girl -her walking companion - might be involved. They might have had a fight about the boy whom she danced with the previous night. The crime might have been one of jealousy and planned all along.

Humans. A brave, cowardly, charitable, undignified, smart, foolish, unflinchingly all-around, and aggressively monstrous species. Kinda like the unknown monsters we also fear in the occasion.
