I have been learning from Jay for the last few years now and I can without a doubt say that he has become my greatest insipiration as a drummer. His style is right there in the realm of style I always wanted myself, and Jay has blessed the drumming world by sharing his knowledge in such an accessible way that people can learn some awesome philosophies and skills that help take our ability to speak on the drums to the next level. Jay is a great person, and incredible mentor. Highly underrated đ©

22:20 love the alternating headbanging between Amos and Acle lol. Jay is on an insane level of rhythmic and groove interpretation. I'm primarily a guitarist, but I learned one Tesseract on drums and it took so long to figure out his fills and accents, but he does that stuff so comfortably on many songs.
Sometimes a pattern feels like it's not gonna make sense, but it lines up in the end. That's also the benefit of using computers to write some of this stuff, as Jay mentioned.

I saw Tesseract on the Sonder tour, and they were and still are BY FAR the best-sounding band I've ever seen live. It's rare that a live situation sounds better than the clinical perfection of a studio cut, but every note was CRUSHING. They really have it dialed; if you ever have a chance to see them live, go get your mind blown.

Jay has been one of my favorite drummers since I first heard Concealing Fate on YouTube - I've been watching for him to show up here. The ways he holds down the underlying pulse amidst the conversation of everything else and the openness of his drumming have been amazing insights for my own practicing (not to mention the left foot groove and how key it is to his playing).
