Superb images again. These pigeons know how to avoid the peregrine by flying extremely high. Are there any peregrine nesting sites in the area ? Are there tall mountains or buildings in the area. I find the way this peregrine hunts pretty interesting. I can't recall seeing a peregrine chasing a prey for more than a couple of minutes let alone an hour. Interesting.

It was very enjoyable, considering how difficult it was for you to to focus and get the right angles. If you managed to do wonders with a handheld camera imagine what you can do with more sofisticated equipment. This video was espectacular, thank you very much for sharing and much respect for your filming skills and your hability to put music and video together in such a professional way.

Great video, on the one hand there is no chance weak pigeons will survive with such a trainer/s and it helps keep the pack in a good shape on the other hand good older birds will be lost and you need to watch the weather carefully (rainy days, fog). I'd be also careful with training, even letting them out at the time they loose long feathers. One way to avoid falcons attack I use is to train pigeons very early in the morning, the earlier the better at the sunrise time. Although the hawks might attack at the start/landing time when the pack is in the air all is OK. In my area falcons often fly a bit later and use warm ascending air currents. so at 10.00 watch out for them . what happened one time as well was a hawk hunting them low to the ground and falcon chasing the pack high.
that was really difficult ....

It was an intense day with the falcon chasing the pigeons at extreme height for 50+ minutes. For some reason, this time most of the pigeons decided to stay up there to fight and only a few to dive down at the loft. Thankfully there were no hawks waiting for them at the loft so I could focus more on filming. Please watch in 4K. Sorry for the shaky footage but most of the action was right above my head and I have to film handheld, looking through the viewfinder with the camera stuck on my face and rotate 360 degrees also trying to introduce as little camera shake as possible which is extremely hard at big zoom. Moreover, I had to use manual focus at the same time zooming in and out to make things harder. Sweating and with muscle cramps. Try it! :) Part of the chase the flock was so far high in the sky that my max zoom couldn't reach and when they became visible again, the whole 85 birds flock was a tiny grey dot. This is totally uncommon for racing pigeons as a breed, I don't know how and why they do this, but I am proud of them. Autofocus of the camera was out of the question, it missed a lot although I spent a lot of money on this camera especially for the autofocus "features". It is useless in such situations, you can see a few fails with the blurry flock before I decided to turn it off. Although in low quality, I think I was able to show what the falcon does to a flock of pigeons that venture in his kingdom at extreme height. I wish I could improve the filming, any tips are appreciated. These are just a few attacks scenes I could film from a lot more, the falcon was really determined. It was one of those good days when it left the area hungry after a one hour chase. It's like winning an important race at the club. ;)
