Sky News contributor Kosha Gada says it is hard to see how traditional media will “reclaim” the power and influence it once held as TV networks lose young viewers to digital media.
A report in the Australian Financial Review revealed TV networks have lost 83 per cent of young viewers to TikTok and YouTube.
In 2011, teenagers spent an average of 75 minutes every day watching commercial television with that average now dropping to 13 minutes.
Ms Gada said traditional media outlets are relying on “protectionist measures” like legislation.
“Some that are more savvy are good at pivoting and figuring out how to get their content … onto these platforms,” she told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
