As an old white woman, I am deeply thankful for Dr. Gates excellent series of programs over the years, all of which I have watched at least twice. My hope is that they are used to educate our children and their parents about our history and how it has impacted generations. I have learned so much.

Henry Louis Gates Jr. Is a national treasure. God Bless you with health & a long life so we can enjoy you for so many more years to come. You are an amazing human being with a beautiful heart ! Also, THANK YOU for speaking about the absurd illusion of "white supremacy" & economic uncertainty being one of it's contributing factors.... another is - ignorance which festers and becomes hate & additionally some people ( so sadly) need to hate someone & feel like someone is beneath them. Thank you for bringing the truth to life !

I am working on my ancestry and I've gone back 12 to 15 generations on many of my branches. I was talking to a friend from Wales, and we realized that these are just names and we have no idea what color our ancestors are. We make a lot of assumptions based on where they come from. I found a bunch of Native Americans from the Montauk and Mohawk tribes in my tree. There were some painted portraits of those ancestors and one woman who is my 14th great-grandmother looked African black because of her hair and features. These ancestors were from the 1500s to the 1600s. My theory was that if I could get back far enough, I'd find all 5 major races in my tree. Eventually, we can find our common ancestors. I was excited. I am the sum total of all those who contributed DNA to create me. Same for all of us. We are all cousins. Food for thought.

Thank you, Mr. Gates, for opening my "white" eyes to the suffering black Americans have gone through, to this day, due to this country's history of slavery, Jim Crow and racism. Watching your show has finally made this clear to me.

Dr. Gates "I don't think guilt is inherentable." That's a brilliant and wise statement.

How I love Dr. Gates voice. Up there with Morgan Freeman and James Earl Jones. They can narrate anything and it sounds so official, elegant, regal. Side note: Same goes for Ms. Amanpour. Her voice and annunciation is divine. I adore this entire piece. Ancestry, history is incredibly fascinating. One love, brothers and sisters.🌎☮️💟

The Sanity of Humanity is returned to Us by the efforts of Men and Women like Henry Louis Gates. When the truth is known, it has a profound effect that can not be denied. Those that refuse to accept it are hiding from the light that would Free them. My respect is strengthened in the efforts of Henry Louis Gates and All those who research the History of Humanity. God Bless your work for illuminating Truth, Fact and Purpose of true Faith. Each Episode fortifies my compassion that All Humans are Brother's, Sister's of One Creator. Peace and Love for your Endeavors in telling the story of Humanity.
