Never underestimate the power of being really annoying

I like to think that Dr. Strange was the first hero in the MCU to drop a save file before entering the final boss fight.

It's unclear how long this lasted, but I like to think this actually explains his apparent power upgrade between this movie and his later appearances. He was practicing his magic defending himself from Dormamu, and for all we know he was at it for perhaps years, maybe centuries.

I love how this was presented. Dr. Strange saying he has come to bargain at first sounds more like he's come to plead. But with each loop he becomes more confident until you hear it in his voice the bargain will be on his terms.

There's no freaking way he went through this countless times and didn't say "Bargain! I've come to Dormammu!"

Everyone loves what Ironman did, but people don't realize this is the biggest sacrifice in the entire MCU. He spent thousands of years getting killed and tortured over and over, and he was willing to do it indefinitely.

That moment just gives me goosebumps. I love how confident he is in that last line. "SET ME FREE!" "No. I've come to BARGAIN."

If you think about it Dr.Strange was the first MCU character to actually defeat his villain without killing him or making him vanish in some kind of way. This "fight" or ending was trully original and it showed us the power of the time stone.

I remember when this scene got so much hate while I always found it was a unique and interesting way to get the best of a villain.

Steve: I could do this all day. Strange: I have come to bargain.

I love that Stephen Strangeā€™s stubbornness was ultimately an asset when channeled in the right direction.

"Pains an old friend" The way Strange said that line hit me harder then it should have

I like to believe that if Dormamu did not accept the bargain, Strange would have constantly trained from these until he could best him. As we have seen from What If, heā€™s capable of building up power when he needs it.

This is probably the best ending to an MCU movie because it doesnā€™t end with such a huge fight scene or one big bang, Dr. Strange is literally just here outsmarting the villain. You donā€™t see that often in these movies.

My theory on why this works on Dormammu and wouldn't work on later villains is that because he's on a higher dimension of consciousness he is aware of the time loop, notice how strange never references any previous loop, he is the same every time until Dormammu interrupts him, for strange each loop feels like the first time and he's simply responding to how Dormammu interacts with him. He wins by being a lesser and more limited being than Dormammu, turning his weakness (or lack of higher consciousness) into a strength. (also strange only does the time loop because this realm is timeless to begin with, so he's less likely to break reality)

I like to believe that dying billions of times over thousands of years while using magic to try and defend himself gave him more time to practice and refine his magic powers than any other sorcerer could dream of.

This is why I love Dr.Strange cause when it comes down to it heā€™s a hero that saved the day by annoying an otherworldly entity into submission and that gains my respect

Imagine dying in agonizing ways over and over again. Thatā€™s the hero part imo

This scene teaches us why we should save before a boss fight
