This really does capture how Paul felt in the book. He gains a hightened awareness from the spice and sees all the possibilities springing forth from his present actions and collapsing as he makes a choice. One of the things the new film doesn't quite do justice are the characters' complex inner thoughts. The '80s film had hokey voiceover, but Timmy does a good job of showing his character's inner journey.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I had a Mead spiral notebook full of quotes from the Dune books as a newly minted teenager. I thought the quotes at the beginning of the chapters we're the peak of philosophy and would guide me through life. They were pretty nice.
For example "Parting with friends is a sadness. A place is only a place." So deep.
