Gilgamesh's destiny is our own destiny, namely to discover our own immortality without losing it to the snake.

Loved, loved, ā¤ā€™d this video! The epic of ā€œGilgameshā€ is once of my favorites. I have not had a chance to read Mr. Helleā€™s but if I donā€™t purchase it today then I will shortly! (Iā€™ve enjoyed what Iā€™ve read so far of his translation.) Really enjoyed his discussion of why he chose to translate Shamhatā€™s title as he did. And thank you so, soooooooooo much for the ā€œFurther Readingā€ list!!! This is the first time I noticed it and now Iā€™m REALLY in history/classics nerd heaven!!! ā¤ļøšŸ™ŒšŸ”„

My personal request would be to do a comparative analysis on Thus Spoke Zarathustra in relation to the Iliad. You will have to read the companion piece from Nietzsche calledā€™Homerā€™s Contestā€™. Some say that Zarathustra is an experiment to creating a Homeric Christianity ā€” food for thought.

This was an amazing interview. Added so many books to my list. I just love all the human touches that have survived. That would be a fun book to capture all those moments in one place. I'd definitely read that! I love your channel! Keep up the good work! ā¤

some other reasons why Enheduanna is not known outside academia it can be Misogamy and Colonial classicism since her model is so similar to sappho and that can create comparative essies which in itself can lead to the opinion that Sappho was emulating her poems. or that she was a fictional character created in the alexandrine school after translating Enheduanna. Colonial classicism has tried to hijack the Greco roman heritage to present white supremacy and mythologize it as the creators of everything thus it was important to downgrade the older civilizations like Mesopotamia and Egypt in way keep that illusion robustly standing.
