No matter what where or who we are here in NZ, we are all connected through whakapapa. We Kiwis are so unique in which our two cultures have always been close since 1835, its because of colonisation is what gave Maori and Pakeha its seperation. We should be proud to be Maori and proud to be Pakeha. Together we are Tangata Whenua.

I love this. I met Ian a few months back when he helped open our store in Waipapa by Kerikeri. Like Ian I am in my 50s and also learning te Reo. Like Ian I am also Ngai Tahu and in January 24 I went to my Marae 'Wairewa' and all of the south island. Fiordland included. This journey is special.

I played rugby and volley ball against Ian back in the day. We made the reps together. I stopped at playing at 15 and the rest is history. Well done mate, our roots are so important. They provide a harbour in the tempest, they are what we build ourselves and our families upon. Kia Kaha old friend.
