I think that terms of right-wing and left-wing should be abandoned, since they are too general and often create misunderstandings. There are at least 3 spectrums of values, that should be taken into consideration:
Culture and Values (Liberal - Conservative)
Economic (Socialist - Capitalist)
State Authority (Totalitarian - Libertarian)

This is deadass right wing propaganda. The Nazis didnât have âleft wing economics.â The term âprivatizationâ was literally coined to describe Nazi policies.
Leftism isnât âwhen the government does stuff.â You contradicted yourself off rip saying that the leftists during the French Revolution were the revolutionaries and the right supported the monarchy.
The left doesnât just want keynesian economics, we want worker ownership of the means of production and abolishment of the commodity form.

I think the best way to sum it up is:
The right values stability, even if those at the bottom have to pay the price. They generally favor the status quo.
The left values equality, even if they risk losing stability.
Authoritarians value order, even if it means sacrificing privacy, and individuality.
Libertarians value personal freedom, even at the cost of stability, order, etc.
Most people are somewhere on the spectrum rather than on an extreme end of it.
Iâm glad he went into the 2-D chart because 1-D spectrums always fail.
They represent libertarianism for example (supporting gay marriage before democrats, opposing corporate welfare, anti war) as being somehow further right than conservatism. The 2-D model just makes more sense.
