Getting married at SF City Hall: The marriage license vs. civil ceremony thing has always been confusing. The marriage license appointment is typically the only thing a couple will do at city hall. Both parties need to show up and swear that their names are correct and that theyâve never been married before. Then, a properly ordained officiant at their wedding will perform the ceremony and sign the marriage certificate. In our case, we also had a civil ceremony at city hall where a commissioner married us, along with 41 other couples that day.

Hi Ashley! Such a great video! My FiancĂŠ and I are looking to get married there as well. We live in Arizona and are looking to do this in March of 2020. I noticed the appointment for the license is to be completed first, but we were looking into the one hour wedding package they offer. Do you know if the appointment needs to be so close to the ceremony, or can we schedule them a few hours apart? Also, I heard late weddings are better for less people ? Not sure if thatâs true or not. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
