This episode is proof that Alex and Kelsey could talk about anything and Iâd still listen and enjoy it lmao. Theyâre talking about a movie trilogy Iâve never seen, in a genre I have little interest in (except Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, peak Rom-Com), and itâs still entertaining. Iâd honestly love to see more episodes like this in the future, it feels like a blend of âDoin the Devilâs Tangoâ and the brief serious review Alex usually does in the last two minutes of his videos. Canât wait for more uploads like this (if there are any)

What I want to know is how did LJ not get into Standford when we were told she has perfect grades (or close too) but some how Elle not only gets into berkeley but also Harvard because she wrote a subpar essay then she also gets into the other school (I donât remember which one it is now) because she gave a less the subpar pitch about a video game idea.
Also the Venn diagram for Noah and Marco is, Noah plays football I think, and he rides a motorcycle. Marco plays the guitar and dances. They are both tall and like Elle

Yess speaking on all the plot threads going on, it was rly over the top.
1. Friendship rules and bucket list
2. Elle and Noah relationship
3. Picking schools
4. Dad and girfriend
5. Marco shows up
6. Beach house
7. Rachel and Lee
8. Berkeley guy
9. And EVEN Chloe's parents splitting up, as if we have much of an emotional connection with her or anything, like-

concerning the girls as people pleasers convo: you're almost there = it's socialization. women-assumed people are socialized from the get-go to exist for others, to be completely concerned about others' needs/wants/opinions. taught from day one.
hammering in living-for-yourself to a teenage girl protag feels like the best part of this movie ;u;

i hope you do more of these podcasts. i have never watched the kissing booth and obviously don't plan to. like I wouldn't be able to get through a minute of it. but I love listening to your reactions! And I have to say, Kelsey, you sound like a fun person. And Alex's reactions are always so funny. I play your videos in the background while working. so hope to see more of this kind of content!

I have 2 male best friends and my relationship with both of them is very close. With one of them I actually had to have several conversations about how he's allowed to express care and affection for me without it being misconstrued as sexual.
Men are more or less taught by society to keep their friends at arms length lest they be labelled "gay" or "weak".
Elle and Lee's friendship is not a "girl" friendship. It's a close friendship.

I know this is not super important to anything honestly, but I really like how Alex is publicly acknowledging how kissing booth launches his career. Most people would say it was all them and their hard would or some emasculate tale. Instead Alex is just like âyep kissing booth, I owe it all to you.â Takes integrity.

I like this type f thing where y'all talk more in-depth about it, because as funny as your videos are they are formatted in a much more "for the laughs" format with punchy one liners where here you talk more societal implications and what the movie is really about which is refreshing how you are less trying to keep our attention and more just having a genuine conversation about it which I very much enjoy. Plus who doesn't love a good podcast?!

i like how this podcast really expands on the points alex made in his original video, and i found it interesting what he brought up in regards to Lee and Elleâs friendship feeling really weirdly âgirlyâ, like it made me think about it and it does seems that when hollywood tries to write strictly platonic friendships between people of opposite sexes, they tend to give the male counterpart a lot of feminine coded qualities and interests and equally give the female counterpart like tomboyish and âone of the guysâ energy, as if they have to reassure the audience that âlook see they could never be into each other like thatâ, when the reality has so much more nuance. Lee as a character would have been more interesting if he was allowed to be more than like a female bestie(hollywood trope) substitute that is like severely codependent, even if they explored why theyre attached so much to each other.
