I'm old (72) and started listening to music in the late 60's. My problem with Shoegazing is similar to my problem with Rap music. It all feels like it's cut from the same bolt of cloth. The sound is now formulaic (You know what to expect before you put the needle on the record.) I loved the early stuff because at the time it was cutting edge (Slowdive, Loveless, Cocteau Twins, Jesus and the Mary Chain), but it's become a pale imitation of itself. There's little risk, and it's not advancing to the next level.
