The strokes are a band that had been on my agenda for quite some time, though I really had no idea what sound they offered. I decided to go for their debut and see what this band was about. This album released back in 2001 and ran at a tight 36 minutes. Join me this week as I check out "Is This It"

My name is Jack and I love music, in particular Hip Hop, I decided to make this channel as a way to engage with other music lovers and because there doesn't seem to be a lot of reaction channels on Youtube...My goal has always been to be open to all types of music regardless of my love of Hip Hop, on this channel you can expect a rich array of genres. If you're keen to join me on my music journey then please subscribe, if you ever want to give your thoughts on an album or song that I have reacted to, then please do. I want this channel to be a community and if you love music of any genre then welcome!!!

This is considered a top 5 album from the 00s... and rightfully so. Kicked off an entire movement, really. Around the same time, in the same city, the band Interpol took off, too. Would love to see you cover their first two albums at some point too.

ive listened to their first 4 albums. this album changed my life. the songwriter's relentless hedonistic disposition resonated with me in my early adult life. it sounded like a good time, which i significantly was not having. it really enriched my life. my favorite song is alone together, especially when it hits the line "he knows it's justified to kill to survive", where you get that back and forth transition with the bass that creates that intense groove with the guitars. i love every other song as well besides last night and take it or leave, which are just decent songs. i give it a 9, and is definitely in my top 30 all time albums, if not 20.

Another great album to come out from this 2000s NYC music scene was Interpol's Turn on the Bright Lights, one my favorite albums of all time. Def worth checkin out!

Love that you're honest about your thoughts, I think a lot of why this album is considered is a classic is because of it's influence on modern rock. Personally, I LOVE Take it or Leave It!

The Strokes come at things with a unique approach - songwriting is strong and instrumentation (including vocals) are all about layering - adding and subtracting to create the dynamics. It is definitely an acquired taste and you might appreciate hearing some of their songs being covered by other artists to see the strength of these tracks "opening up" a bit with natural vocals.

these cats have such a fun progression over time. first two albums are iconic. unpopular opinion but their third and fourth releases are by far my favorite. their sixth and most recent sees a wonderful blend of all their experimentation.

The Strokes are an amazing band. Would love to see a reaction series with them or with Damon Albarn's Blur/Gorillaz like you're doing with Radiohead. You wouldn't regret it

The Strokes are my second fav band after Radiohead.. great stuff! Their second album, Room On Fire, is definitely worth a listen. I like it even better than Is This It :)

The really cool thing about this album is that it was recorded live!

The Strokes are in my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Their lineup has been the same from the jump, every album sounds different, but their talent is ever evolving. Maybe try Room On Fire next? That was their second album and has a little more variety. Great reaction! 😌

A fkn classic!!!! God, I ♡ this album so much. The sound and the lyrics were just a fresh sound when I was in high school. They also have such a fun journey in their growth. So stoked for you, Jack! Good shit.

Hi, love your reactions and would love to see you react to more Strokes album too, and I have been a fan of them for about two years now! Next, I think you should react to The Killers' Hot Fuss, another amazing indie/alt rock album!

something interesting to consider is Julian actually wrote every instrumental part in addition to the lyrics on the first 2 Strokes albums.
