Let me fill you in as a developer. For Android, all I need is a computer with ADK installed. That includes the meta quest. I don't need the hardware in hand, any improvements can be made based on user feedback. With the Vision Pro, I would REQUIRE, an iPhone 12 onward, a Mac, a Vision Pro, AND a $99 a year Apple developer account. It is such a steep investment on my part. On top of that Apple takes a MASSIVE 30% cut of all sales. It is the only platform where I would go into debt to develop for with zero gurantee of ROI. The worst that happens on other platforms, is I make $0.

When I started in Computers, I was using punchcards to load programs. The innovation in the last 50 years is incredible. VR will eventually be that way, but just like PCs right now, you can tweak speed, graphics, etc. but bottom line is its really the same product. Apple's product does have a few more features, but at its price point, its just not different enough.

4:48 "Do you really wanna live your life with a headset on?"
You mean do we want the world to turn into Wall-E where we're all floating around in chairs with permanent holo-screens in our faces...? Except with a single overarching giga-corp pulling all the strings? It almost sounded tempting at first

I almost fully agree with Matt. However, I don't think Apple was planning on selling a lot of these, I think that they were planning on selling the idea of the vision pro. I work in IT at the moment, and I've talked to two different apple reps for things unrelated to the vision pro, and they both mentioned that I should go and demo the thing because the tech is cool. They both even admitted that it's too expensive. I don't think they want people to buy the vision pro, they want people to buy the "idea" of the vision pro so when something cheaper comes out they can say "Oh it's got all the big things from the pro, but it's only 1000 bucks" or something.

One of the most popular apps, on the front page of the app Store, on the vision pro has only made its creator $300 total. there is no incentive for developers to make anything worthwhile on the platform. a $3,500 barrier to entry was such a stupid move on Apple's part. their only competition is a mostly gaming headset that's $500.
agree with Matt on most points about this device. for that price you can buy an entire office setup that will run circles around the vision pro and will actually last you well into the future

Meta has been doing a good job of spreading VR/MR by lowering prices on Quest 2 and making it more affordable for everyone to get started with VR/MR, I say the Quest 2 is VR/MR because I have tested AR multi-player games between a Quest 2 and Quest 3 and despite the quality differences, the games were still fun to play on both devices
