my older sister just sent this link to me. i havenât seen her in almost a month and every time a see her weâre inseparable, but we arenât the lovey type of siblings - weâre more of the ones that make fun of each other and call each other stupid as a joke. this caught me off guard. i know she wonât see this, but i love you J, even if i never actually say it to you. thank you.

When it all goes bad
You're the shrink of the club
But, you don't ever take your own advice
The world won't fall if you're not holding it up
Just take a minute, put your mind on ice
And you try, and you try, and you're trying
But the burden is heavy and overgrown
And God knows that we all get tired
It's a long night when you do it on your own
And I
I hate how you talk to yourself
It's not weak if you need to be held
So cut off a little slack and roll all your cavalry back
My love, take care of yourself
Call your friends, send your ego away
No, don't need to take it all so seriously
You don't get a medal for the last one awake
So rest your eyes and give your baggage to me
And you try, and you try, and you're trying
But the burden is heavy and overgrown
And God knows that we all get tired
It's a long night when you do it on your own
And I
I hate how you talk to yourself
It's not weak if you need to be held
So cut off a little slack and roll all your cavalry back
My love, take care of yourself
And I hate how you're going through hell, yeah
When you've never let anyone else
So cut off a little slack and roll all your cavalry back
My love, take care of yourself
Yeah, my love, take care of yourself
All these things we hide behind
Let's not do that, you and I
Take a breath and take your time
Hold my gaze, and we'll be fine
'Cause God knows that we all get tired
It's a long night when you do it on your own
And I
I hate how you talk to yourself
It's not weak if you need to be held
So cut off a little slack and roll all your cavalry back
My love, take care of yourself
And I hate how you're going through hell, yeah
When you've never let anyone else
So cut off a little slack and roll all your cavalry back
My love, take care of yourself
Yeah, my love, take care of yourself
Yeah, my love, take care of yourself

This is one of those songs to play when your on a late night train journey or just at home after a long day, sitting back and taking in the lyrics. When life is a little shitty, we all need this song and I think we can all relate to the lyrics at some point. Truly beautiful. If you have a friend who you feel is struggling a lil in life, send them this songâ¤

So I don't know if anyone will see this or not, but I just want to talk. I'm seeing a psychiatrist at the moment because my horrible school life from my very first year onwards created major anxiety, depression and trauma, and has only gotten worse as I've gotten older (I'm 20). I used to live in a really heavily overpopulated area, and because of my generally jolly personality, my other mental health aspects (ADHD and at the time undiagnosed autism) and the strain on the mental health services, i never got the help I needed until I moved away. It still took a while for me to finally get help even after moving. During this time where I was suffering without help, the idea of white men being automatically privileged spread further and further across society, and my troubles were largely ignored by my peers as a result. I felt (and still feel) horrible and alone, because other than my family no one really wanted to give me the time of day for years, despite having to leave university/school classes and activities sometimes when my trauma, anxiety and depression got too much. More songs like this need to be made nowadays. No matter what and who you were when you were born, you can still have horrible experiences in your life that can make things unbearable. This song helps spread a very important message. Even when you have no one, you need to look after yourself. And be aware of the suffering of those around you, because having a shoulder to cry on is all someone can sometimes need to get through a panic attack, traumatic memory resurfacing, or a depression spike. I thankfully have my mum who's always happy to give me a hug when I need it. But some people have no one to confide in. And those people need a shoulder to cry on the most.
I wish I had someone who would tell me the things this song tells me.
