I showed my mom the, "don't take off your shoes or you can't do the dishes," and an ADHD paralysis tik tok and.... she just said, "you need to get past that and take it one thing at a time."
It's REALLY frustrating when someone won't believe you about how your own brain works.
And, I'm currently self-diagnosed autistic (pursuing formal diagnosis but having a hard time there) and she's also not entirely convinced of my autism, even though I've compared myself to the DSM-5 criteria, as well as clinical studies and anecdotal experiences of autistics on social media.
Her attempts at advice and... basically telling me to work past my brain feeds into imposter syndrome...
