My mom has friend who can sing these songs very well. She was a Filipino who works as a bar singer/performer in Japan during the 80s. She's in her late 50s now, but can still sing some of these songs on point!

It's not a real JP 80's city pop playlist unless it starts with Stay With Me to set the mood.

Things really have changed. These songs make you nostalgic for things that you did not even experience. You can clearly visualize those old anime while listening to these songs. They just have a certain "feel" that you can't find in today's songs.

Maybe many people don't know "city pop" is not only a music genre...it was the portrayal of an era through music. It represented the Japan of the 80s, the Japan that gracefully rode the wave of prosperity, a perfect breeding ground not only for thinking about the future...but even not needing to for because its present was already perfect. The Japan where young office workers had exorbitant salaries and young couples were able to buy big houses, a cosmopolitan bubble-life where young salarymen and male and female students had a bright future, where everyone wanted to live. "City pop" talked about the joy of life and nightlife, love, happiness, an endless paradise that had to be enjoyed very fast and very lively, before the decade finishes and 90s come...

My grandpa said this type of music inspired the bar he opened in the 80s โ€œTokyo Delvesโ€ in Los Angeles when he first immigrated here from Japan - pretty dope people still listen to it

I love how there are hundreds of city pop playlists on YouTube and they're all the same songs.

My son is 1 year old and I usually put my son to sleep listening to this, and he sleeps like an angel. I'm getting him used to hearing and feeling what his father felt in those golden times of the 80s'. We are Brazilians ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

When I do my housework, it's ready. It plays in the background and makes things happier, everything is better with good tracks like these.

Y'know, I came across city pop in late 2018, and it has just occurred to me how much it has profoundly affected my well-being. Life has its ups and downs, and listening to this helps keep me going. I wish everyone reading this happiness, success, and abundance.
