No Rest For The Wicked is an ambitious melding of influences and aspirations - part aRPG, part souls like, part survival game and with far more story presentation than any of those genres are used to. Despite being in early access, No Rest for the Wicked is so inventive, so engaging and so polished that it feels like a genuine game of the year contender in the making.

MOON is also being really good about listening to community feedback. I’m consistently seeing patch notes that directly address some of the Early Access players biggest pain points

Put 40 hours into it so far. To think this early access release is effectively just chapter 1 of the game… it’s going to be INCREDIBLE

I'm one of those guys that got hooked and sunk 100+ hours into a game that only has about 15 hours of content. It's such a good core game. I had almost no expectations for this game, I liked Ori but not enough to buy the sequel so when I got my hands on this I wasn't sure what to expect. Turns out, a Wicked good time. I disagree with a lot of the gripes people have and it sucks to see the reviews are so low because of some of those features. It takes about 10 deaths for your gear to break and it cost maybe a silver to repair which you get from selling 1-2 items. I really didn't think it was a big deal when in every Fromsoft game you lost ALL your currency if you died twice. I almost never had my gear break either because if you're opening up every chest you find, you should be drowning in repair kits too so you don't even need to visit the blacksmith. This felt like people coming in expecting a Diablo and got met with a souls-like instead. Wit the teleport system, I think this is a case of only having Act 1 available. When you get to town "fast travel is unlocked" and the menu looks like it's meant to show more than a single location. I think they're going for an approach similar to Dark Souls 1 where you upgrade the teleport system throughout the story. There's just only the one act atm so you can't see that. I have a lot of thoughts on the game, but I'll leave it at that. There's a lot this team has going on, and some of it is extremely ambitious. I wish I had the skillset to apply for a job because I would love to learn how they've delivered something so extraordinary without having a catalog of games like studios behind most souls-likes. It's really something special.

It's incredible they managed to make the camera work with this perspective, considering the verticality and the constant obstruction of the view by the environment.

This studio really goes all out in the art department 😍

I personally really loved the platforming. Finding a cliff that you can leap off of and land 50 ft below in a pool of water just really sold the verticality

Moon Studios is shaping up to be an absolute behemoth among indie studios. Crazy ambitious CEO who's also a developer himself said he'll revolutionize ARPGs and he's actually doing this.

This is the type of ARPG that i like. Real time combat with precise button prompts instead of just clicking on everything multiple times in hope that it dies

YES. What I love most about this is how completely ITSELF it appears to be. That's the hallmark of genuine creativity: carving out new spaces of possibility when the old ones aren't adequate to your vision. This isn't a ripoff of anything else, even if there are elements of this and that. I'm excited for the final product.

You can sidestep the repair cost by attaching a Rune (you can buy in the city) on a weapon. Then you just need to build to 150 focus and use the rune to repair everything for free D:

I like that the dev team is experimenting with unconventional ideas. I wish more would take these kinds of risks.

Main reason I want to play this is because of how incredible it's going to look on a 4K OLED TV with HDR. Ori games are beautiful and so is this. It's good to hear that the gameplay is shaping up although I'll probably wait for a couple more updates.

Hoping the 1.0 isn't too long off... but they can take their sweet time until it's fully ready and us console owners can get a banger straight out of the box.
