I just want to mention the camera work in your videos. For example, in this video there was a lot of essentially "talking head" where a static shot would normally be used. However, Phil's very subtle "hand-held" motion and zooms into a closeup of you and back out to more of the room just make the video feel more alive and like I'm in the room listening to you. In the real world, if I were in a room listening to you, I would be making eye contact with you and looking back and forth at the thing you're talking about, and Phil captures that extremely well. And I'm not quite sure how Phil does it, but it's a very smooth and stable hand-held, not the super annoying shakey cam. Anyway, this is something I've noticed and really appreciated about your videos for a little while now and wanted just just mention that I notice it and I appreciate it and I think it makes your videos better. Merry Christmas!

Virtually all projectors are designed to project the image with the lens at either the bottom of the screen (table top) or the top of the screen (ceiling mounted). If you place the projector at either of those heights and it’s centered and perpendicular, you don’t need any keystone adjustment. Home theater enthousiasts don’t use any keystone as it degrades the image quality somewhat. Just take some care in projector placement and you’ll be fine with not having any digital image adjustment.

The main use cases that I've seen for gaming on a projector is for video game tournaments. You have a huge screen for the crowd to see the action easily and clearly

Just want to clear something up on theater projectors. You can find 4k but most theaters are only 2k. I've had a couple of my films make into festivals and I have to have DCP (Digital Projection File) file created to playback on the theater projector. I only did a 2k file for my last 2 films because 4k was useless. It was surprising to learn this.

I bought a projector specifically for Halo CE LAN party's and it was an incredible experience. After the party I remember playing on legendary difficultly and flying through the game. To this date my dream setup was running three projectors on PC with convergence software on an oval screen with Nvidia 3D Vision and as I was waiting for the projector and processing tech to improve Nvidia killed off 3D Vision. This was before Linus demonstrated this on his channel.

FYI Cinema still maxes out at 4k. The projectors are either using a Xenon lamp, which is the majority of equipment installed, or lasers which have been slowly rolling out over the last 4 years. It will be 2025-2026 before the majority of cinemas are 4k laser systems and at least 10 years before anyone might see a wider rollout of anything 8K or above. Even the top of the line IMAX laser system that they partnered with Barco/Cinionic on is only 4K.

I liked how you imagined a 1000in screen and then thought that was too small and referenced a 40ft screen, which is half as large.

120" screen with an Epson LS12000. 4K/120hz. No VRR support, but with a 7900XTX it hasn't been an issue. It has been glorious.

I have the ViewSonic PX748-4K. I have used it for gaming streaming from my PC but mostly for TV/movies via Apple TV 4K. It'll do 1080p 240hz or 4k60. Looks very good with decently low latency. Can confirm the bulb does take a few minutes to warm up and cool down since it's not LED.

Back in "the day," I worked for a large corporation's IT department and we did a lot of A/V work. With traditional bulb projectors that are on like 4 to 8 hours a day for presentations and training classes, they go through bulbs like every 6 months to a year; and those bulbs cost around a hundred dollars sometimes. LED has been fantastic for projectors.

Not a bad product for the price, if only I had the room for it. As the year is coming to a close wanted wish you, Phil and Nick and the whole JTC family a happy holiday season! Best of wishes for 2024!
