My friends never like Nickelback but I did and I stuck with them. Then feed the machine came out and now it's so popular! :)

Ryan is very interesting. I liked his response as to why people love the music.

When Chad talks about not shrouding his lyrics in metaphor, I have to say that it is very true, especially in the new album. The song "Home" reflects almost everything that my sister has done to throw her life away with drug and alcohol addictions, even with so many people trying to help her. I've been defending Nickelback for years now to people who cant relate (as you talked about as well), and never once did I doubt the truth and power behind the stories in each and every one of their songs. I will listen to these guys for the rest of time, even if it means I get mocked by the ignorant.

Amazing interview. I've been a fan of these guys for almost 20 years and it's really refreshing to hear them open up instead of the usual rehearsed soundbite stuff. Great job with the interview and thank you for posting this!

My favourite Memory of how you Remind me is sitting in my best friends car, Jam packed with our friends, more people in the car then legally allowed and all of us are just belting it out. Just rocking out to 1 song that was making us all so happy. It's a great memory of being a dumb teenager, thanks!

I literally hate the 'HATE' that Nickelback receives. Completely unwarranted. Like I'm talking about there NOT being one ounce of legitimacy behind any criticism of this band. It's all social bandwagon bullshit I'll tell you right now, I'm not a fanboy of Nickelback - growing up I listened to Pantera, Sepultra, Danzig, Black Sabbath, ACDC, STP, Metallica, Slayer, Corrosion of Conformity, GnR, Bon Jovi, The Haunted, The Misfits, The Police, The Stones, The Beatles, Elvis, fucking Robert Johnson... and Nickelback is absolutely in the same family of the aforementioned legacy of rock and blues artists. If you have a distaste for this band, you're part of the population that is simple as fuck; and has been tricked into casually dismissing the band as shit, without listening to their albums. Your opinion has been sculpted by their ballads that were played on top 40 radio, (you listen to top 40 radio? - I completely trust your opinions in music though...) anyway... Or where else did you hear about Nickelback? Your drunken uncle Tommy, who was annoyed by hearing 'How You remind Me" on the radio in 2001 too many times, and said it was shit...and then you heard it...and said....yeah uncle Tommy, you're right. This is shit. Well... all I can say to the people who thoughtlessly label this band as pure shit in today's dying rock scene... 'YOU'RE the reason why EDM and Hip Hop, and Dubstep (or whatever is currently popular) is devouring the market.' Your godamn apathy and stupidity combined... " liking metal and rock, but disliking Nickelback" - while the whole entire empire of heavy music is dying...you can consider yourself directly responsible for Rock and Metal being completely wiped off the face of the planet in 2043 AD...

Man! I have 'Feed the Machine' in my playlist right now. But I think I'm gonna put back the rest of the discography in my phone. Chad Kroger is probably my favourite songwriter

They're so self-aware that everyone hates them that they crack jokes about it all the time. That's why I love watching their interviews XD

I really agree, I used to be one of those guys that would mercilessly poke fun at Nickelback until I actually took the time to listen and realized that they made so many great classic songs. I think that people are starting to come around to that

Honestly, when I heard how you remind me, I constantly confused it for Savin me. Now that I've heard it, it's probably one of my favorite songs of all time. I never really gave it the recognition other people gave it until 2016.

I am 46 and love the heavy metal groups of my generation. When you guys first started I had already moved on to other genres so I missed out on you basically because they was no good heavy metal to listen to. But, with that said, when I did discover your music about 7 years ago I was hooked instantly and I am so glad that you are still here making new music. I really think people of my generation and the younger kids will enjoy your sound and lyrics...I think you'll be around for a long time...please don't stop!!! I LOVE your new music...Chad, you have a superpower voice and it touches my soul. Thank you! I also really LOVE the guitar riffs...both of these together give your band such a one of a kind sound that many of us love. Good luck!

Something i noticed in this interview, is the admiration the other band members have and the trust they have in Chad, to allow him to just create and give him the ball to create and they will just back him up. Knowing his talent. So important to leave the EGO at the door. Same with Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Matt Stone KNOWS Trey is the golden boy and should just be left to his devices but hes there to back him up, give ideas and keep up, a little.
