This is my conversation with Altocamet. It took place on 7/29/2021 from their home in Argentina.

Altocamet is an Argentine music band formed in 1995 in Mar del Plata, combining pop , rock and electronics through intimate and evocative lyrics. They have shared the stage with Gustavo Cerati , Babasónicos , Andy Rourke , Robin Guthrie and Asobi Seksu . They have also played at various festivals in the last decade, such as Nokia Trends , Creamfields , Mardelpop, Primavera Alternativa with Sonic Youth and Sean Lennon., and they have taken their music through different stages in Argentina , and other Latin American countries.

In 1995, they started as an acoustic trio formed by Adrian “Canu” Valenzuela on guitar and vocals, Guillermo Piacenza on bass and Pedro Moscuzza on drums. With songs that already delineated the intentions of its members, poetic lyrics and influences from new rhythms more focused on groove, they added Waldo Trubiano in sequences and percussion and Claudio Paz as guest violinist.

With the first shows they started the path of the band. Among the first songs, Electric Sushi stood out - its demo version was the group's first video clip - and the unreleased Paloma, Rubies and Noches. In 1998 his new line-up was defined with the arrival of Mariana Monjeau on keyboards, Rubén Kain on bass and synthesizers and Guillermo Piacenza alternating bass and electric guitar.

Veladabristolcasino, was his first album produced by Altocamet and Julian Sanza, considered by the specialized press and the public as a key piece for the pop and electronic scene of the late 90s. The album was officially presented at the Colon Theater in the city from Mar del Plata, with Trineo and Dj Rorro as special guests. This work combines intimate songs with electronic sounds and trip hop and drum & bass rhythms, Astor Pitch.
