Excellent information! Iām preparing to start learning more about my line of Eastern Cherokee on my dadās side. Unfortunately, the only relative that carried on the teachings passed away several years ago. I feel like so much heritage and knowledge has been lost over the years because of tyranny by governments and social ignorance. Iām not ālegallyā 1/8 Native American, but I still want to embrace that part of us!

Iām watching this as someone who is struggling with my identity as an indigenous person, to help further deprogram myself from the lies about us that are so pervasive that I may or may not myself even accidentally believe. The first point is a huge relief as Iām always worried Iām āless nativeā than others because Iām not 100% knowledgeable on my own people. Itās hugely discouraging but itās so comforting to know that Iām not alone on this

I love my first nation ancestry. My problem is that I am a lost Indian and my biggest issue is that due to being a lost first nation person is that I'm trying to learn the fundamentals of (well I can't say all tribes, due to the vast diversity and numbers of seperate tribes) a number of different tribes.
What scares me is that as hard as I'm trying to learn, I'm afraid of not becoming a strong enough first nation member...
Good to see the Canadian government holding up to their word, how long has it been since they said that the first nations would be compensated.
The Australian indigenous have agreements with the natural gas companies to frack their land but that tribe get paid royalties and I tells ya, the indigenous people that receive these royalties are doing pretty bloody good.

I think another myth is that all indigenous people look like traditional natives. I know indigenous people with black skin or even with blonde hair. It goes with the myth of are they indigenous enough? I love your videos, I just subscribed a few days ago, and I really love your channel ā¤ļø šš¦

The thing that surprised me the most was that people would be ashamed to identify as indigenous. I understand they're being fear from the past of being judged or treated differently. That makes perfect sense from a safety perspective, however, feeling shame was really surprising to me. As an ally or human in general, I am very offended when I see manufacturing of indigenous items for simply profit. I would love to be able to ask them the significance of the items they're making to see if they are truly knowledgeable in what they are making and what they represent. The only way that I can show my disapproval is by not buying the items and buying directly from places that I know where they are made or who has made them.
When I bought my granddaughter's shirt for orange shirt day, I was horrified to see that it was made in a different country. My daughter found it humorous because she said everything is made there because it's cheaper. I was very clear that did simply did not make it acceptable.
I could not find the link to see what kind of ally I was.
Please continue to share your knowledge for those who are willing to learn, but more importantly, those who need to learn. Knowledge is power, Even if uncomfortable.

I am proud being half Cree. My father was a Cree chief, and came from Alberta. He was a shaman too. Met my mother in the netherlands, he was stationed as a soldeer. I was a little girl and made regalia already.
I feel myself more First Nations , than dutch. I am a shaman too. Ones i want to go to canada, my home country.
