I played this by myself, and I took a few weeks to beat it. It has been one of the best gaming experiences EVER. This game has honestly shown little aging, in my opinion.

Every game director/head developer needs to release a preview like this. It'd sure gives a lot more perspective to a video game than every other FPS that looks like some idiotic mega-macho "epic" trailer with a Carmina Burana-like song playing in the background.

I love how different the beta was, with quite a few things differing from the final product such as some color palettes being off like the dark blue water in Magicant. Also map layout in general makes the footage feel like a fever dream, at least to me, because it feels so familiar, yet so off. Like even outside of Ninten's house it's really different. Also the tree and sign sprites were different in that clip. And what looked like either Spookane or Snowman had a much more grey palette like in the bread crumbs glitch area.
Anyways. Fascinating stuff.

It's funny, because one can actually "fast-forward" the game using modern emulation if they were to play it... which my brother uses in RPGs. A lot.
Then again, we've both played this game SO many times on the original system... but even I don't fast-forward when playing it using emulation (I don't own a Super Nintendo anymore; just the game). I still play it with friends from time to time. The feeling is starting to match the first feeling when I played this game. :)

this vid honestly shows something very interesting to me
you where never meant to rush Mother 1, he wanted you to explore the game nicely
though if you keep going through the game like with earthbound/Mother3 (Where its point A to point B) your inevitably going to find yourself at a disadvantage and have to resort to endless grinding

Don't rush the game, play at your own pace. Talk to everyone in the game, explore the areas. Itoi's mind and my mind are kinda alike. I'm happy that there's someone who shares the same feelings as me.

Having played this game multiple times, I know he's right. If you go in trying to "beat the game" you don't enjoy it as much. Mother games are full of fun little moments.
