Join me on a walk down the abandoned Dunnington section of the Wilts and Berks canal as I explore the old locks, bridges and aqueduct on this fascinating section of canal. I take a close look at the aqueduct and its condition as I wade underneath! What is the future of the line? Will it be restored and who owns it?

Very interesting update on the Berks and Wilts, showing how well that aqueduct has been preserved after more than 200 years - though it may have had some remedial work at times. Thank you.

Fascinating- thank you for baring the elements to make a great video! Astonishing that the structure is so sound all this time later.

Not surprised about Wiltshire council, after all we’ve nowhere near Trowbridge, so why would we get any help

Just need to point out that the owners of the bypass road (Oxford University) had no intention of continuing to allow traffic to use it, and the residents of Dunnington Close agreed to the road marring their lives because of the reassurance that it would be temporary. I argued vehemently on their behalf for the removal of the section overlooking Dunnington Close and we were successful.

Beware the nimby tendency. Much to be said for a linear park as a recreational asset.what does the tunnel pass under.? Railway conservationists and tourist service operators may be reaching saturation point. That is the point when the resource management capacity exceeds the demands of the asset. Canal conservationists need to accept those realities. Excellent sound and vision. Some orientation too brisk to be fully intelligible.

The idea that this canal will ever be restored is for the birds , it would take tens of millions let alone the skills needed .It will never happen !
