Another great one from my teen years. Living in the LA area, Santa Monica, Malibu and Huntington Beach were weekend swimming destinations. The Beach Boys were really popular because they were local kids as well. Ohhh to only be able to go back for a visit. Fond memories and beautiful girls... :)

Ive only recently realized what I love most about this record. The tape splicing in the master is noticeable if you know what you're listening for. End of the first chorus/start of the first verse is the most noticeable, but halfway thru the verses right before the snare hits is another one. Oddly, rather than jarring, it makes the whole record for me. Phil Spector once called it an "edit record" and meant it sort of dismissively. The reality is that it was just another way in which the student had surpassed the sensei and he was butthurt about it.
