Immune System, Part 1: Crash Course Anatomy & Physiology #45

Our final episodes of Anatomy & Physiology explore the way your body keeps all that complex, intricate stuff alive and healthy -- your immune system. The immune system’s responses begin with physical barriers like skin and mucous membranes, and when they’re not enough, there are phagocytes -- the neutrophils and macrophages. It also features the awesomely named natural killer cells and the inflammatory response, and we'll explain how all of these elements work together to save the day if you happen to slip on a banana peel.

You guys are amazing. Managing to pull off a cliffhanger on an educational video is quite the deed.

This is, by far, the most adorable portrayal of the immune system I have ever seen. Props to Crash Course.

This guy: "Our immune system is very sophisticated." Immune system: "My solution to this problem is to BURN EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND!"

the fact that I watched this 10 minute video and understood everything astonishes me. It also amazes me how college professors literally elongate so much of their lectures, sometimes talking for 3 hours straight to tell us the same information in this video.

I work in medicine and i approve of this video, everything is spot on, amazing presentation and an absolutely hilarious barrage of jokes and puns. Well done Hank, well done. I will be referring to this video anytime a friend of mine asks about immune systems in the future.

I just wanna give a HUGE thank you to this entire series of videos (but especially the immune system ones!!) I took the MCAT last May after many months of studying and watching this series over and over and over (by the end I was literally playing them while I slept). I got an amazing score and I've now been accepted to a couple of great schools, and I literally could not have done it without these fantastic videos that present the topics in such an engaging and informative way! Seriously, THANK YOU!
