Nice attempt. 😄 I tried something similar by tuning my baritone ukulele not like a bass, but at least in GCEA an octave lower than normal. With guitar strings that works quite well. I used the 4 lowest strings of the LaBella 900 Elite Series guitar string set for this. They are polished and therefore do not cause any unpleasant noise when sliding and picking. I had to change very little on the ukulele for this. Now I use it to bring an additional timbre to our purely instrumental ukulele ensemble, and also play a kind of bass line on some pieces. Single notes sound good with it, strumming on the other hand does not. And this kind of "bass baritone ukulele" is also louder than a normal U-bass, as loud as other ukuleles.

maybe try acoustic bass string like XTB3790GS?
They are made by bronze so you can get lowest tension that just a bit tighter then Ukulele strings
looking for buy a UBass but I think maybe I can just made one with my old Ukulele that's not using in a while and find this video
